Foot Tennis Rules

1. Court Setup & Equipment

  • Individual and doubles matches are played according to standard foot tennis (tennis-based) court dimensions.
  • Courts must have a center line dividing the service boxes.
  • For triples (3 vs. 3), an additional backline is marked 260 cm behind the baseline.
  • Net height: 110 cm. Cannot be changed in MLTSZ-regulated events. In invitational/open tournaments, organizers may modify.
  • Net must include antennas (material flexible). Height from ground: minimum 2 meters, placed 20 cm outside the sideline.

2. Net Contact

  • Touching the antenna or net section between antennas = automatic point loss.
  • Contact with net posts, outside net area, or lines beyond antennas is not forbidden, but the ball must not hit these areas.
  • If a player touches the antenna after the play has ended due to momentum, the point still goes to the opponent.

3. Overreaching

  • Reaching over the net is allowed if there is no physical contact with the opponent.
  • Intentional contact (kick, punch, hit) = immediate point loss and possible penalty.

4. Fair Play & Sanctions

  • Rough, intentional contact is forbidden. Yellow card = warning. Repeat offense = red card, disqualification, possible team expulsion.
  • Match balls: only GALA balls approved by UNIF.

5. Match Format

  • Each match = best of 3 sets. Sets are to 11 points.
  • Switch sides between sets.
  • At 6–6, a deciding set is played with a side change at 6 points.
  • Victory margin = minimum 1 point (12:11 wins).

6. Substitutions & Timeouts

  • No substitution allowed in individual matches.
  • Substitutions allowed in doubles and triples per FIFTA or EFTA-UNIF rules.
  • 1 timeout per set (1 minute). Injury timeout = 3 minutes per player.

7. Serve Regulations

  • Serve must be from outside the court, within imaginary extensions of sidelines.
  • Ball must land in opponent’s service area.
  • Server’s foot must not touch lines.
  • Only the serving team can serve after winning the point.
  • Let serves are not replayed.

8. During Play

  • Ball must cross over the net between the antennas.
  • Ball bouncing on invalid parts (posts, ceilings, referees) = point loss.
  • Touching the ball with the hand or arm = point loss.

9. Challenge System

  • Players may challenge ball bounces if clear marks are visible (e.g., clay/sand courts).
  • Challenge must be immediate.
  • Referee decisions are final.
